Standard Format Ban & Errata Update – May 2025

The Universus Standard Format continues to evolve with each major set and competitive season. To maintain balance and clarity, UVS Games has issued an official update to the Standard Format’s Suspended (Banned) and Errata lists. Whether you're prepping for locals or just sleeving up something spicy, here’s what you need to know.

Banned Cards (Standard Format – Effective Immediately)

The following cards are no longer legal in Standard format:

These cards were banned to prevent degenerate gameplay loops, enforce health interaction boundaries, and preserve deck diversity across the format.

Updated Card Text (Errata)

Some powerful or ambiguous cards have received updates to clarify intent or rebalance their power levels. Here’s what’s changed:

Ryukyu (MHA06-082)

Old Text:

Response: After you play a card, if it has no abilities, draw 1 card and you may add 1 card from your hand to your momentum.

New Text:

Response: After you play an attack card, if it has no abilities, draw 1 card and you may add 1 card from your hand to your momentum.

Clarifies the intent and restricts momentum gain to attack cards only.

Smiling Titan (AOT01-019)

Old Text:

Enhance [Tenacious]: Your attack gets +X speed and +X damage.

New Text:

Enhance [Tenacious]: Your attack gets +X speed or +X damage.

Now limited to a single stat boost for better pacing.

Younger Toguro (YYHDT-127)

Old Text:

Enhance: Your attack gets +X damage. X equals half the number of foundations in your stage (rounded down).

New Text:

Enhance Commit 1 foundation: Your attack gets +X damage. X equals half the number of foundations in your stage (rounded down).

Introduces a cost to match the character's aggressive ceiling.

Storm of Arrows (CR-VM-010)

Old Text:

You may spend Ranged Weapon attacks from your card pool as though they were momentum to pay for this attack's Echo ability.

New Text:

You may clear 1 other Ranged Weapon attack from your card pool as though you were spending momentum to pay for this attack's Echo ability.

Fixes terminology and aligns with standard mechanics.

Ice Sword Execution (YYHDT-120)

Old Text:

Enhance: Name 1 foundation. Commit all copies of that foundation.

New Text:

Enhance: Name 1 foundation. Commit all copies of that foundation in all stages.

Clarifies board-wide effect rather than only your opponent's.
