About Coping with Cardboard

Coping with Cardboard is more than just a team name. It is a mindset. We are a group of Universus TCG players who compete, create, and commiserate together through the highs of top decks and the lows of two checks. Each of us brings something different to the table, whether it is experience, insight, spice, salt, or relentless optimism. What unites us is a shared love for the game and the community around it. Whether you are here to scout us out before an event, connect with us online, or just see who keeps losing to their own deckbuilding choices, this is where you can meet the crew.

  • Paul Butler

    Captain

Paul Butler has been playing Universus since the release of MHA set 1 after discovering the game at a local convention. Though he’s loved board games since he was young, he’s loved competitive tabletop games his whole life and has a background in wargaming before coming to UVS. He truly fell in love with the game and community after attending his first regional in Kissimme, Florida and felt a desire to foster a local community in his hometown. He is incredibly passionate about community building and helping people feel comfortable, confident, and excited to play Universus. He hopes that through CWC he can help extend those feelings to players of all skill levels and inspire others to feel the same love that he has for the game.

  • Selfie of Kylie

    Kylie "Stella" Bernard

Kylie is pretty new to the TCG scene, and started playing Universus at the time of Undaunted Raid. With next-to-no prior experience in card games, she specializes in enthusiasm and making her opponent laugh. If everyone's having a good time, then that's a W in her book. Falling somewhere between aggro and mid-range, the best win for her is when her opponent's choices simply don't matter. Whether it's a new string of a attacks, a line of prose, or the next verse on her bass guitar, there's always something new to create.
