Keep or Mulligan - Part Two!

Welcome to Keep or Mulligan, where I take a real hand from a real Universus game and ask you all the first question. Am I keeping this, or shipping it for new cards?

Today’s deck is Edgeshot on Void, a proactive control list that plays the long game through disruption and efficient trades. You are not trying to close the game out in three turns. You are applying steady pressure while denying your opponent clean lines. Cards like Genkai’s Guidance, Barrier Shield, and Titan Cliff help you maintain tempo and keep your rival off balance. This deck rewards patience and timing, letting you build resources while setting up powerful midgame turns that turn small advantages into a win.

For this Keep or Mulligan article, we are on the Draw. To help further your decision making, we have posted the exact decklist below! So you may verify the curve, the checks and any number of quantities of cards.

Our Take

We absolutely keep this.

This episode is a bit of a trick question and for some, an easy one to answer, because you have to keep in mind that you can review an attack from your hand, since you are on the draw. Giving yourself two more cards, but also -1 difficulty to your builds this turn, which makes this hand much much more keepable.

One thing in this hand’s favor is that we’re holding Thousand Sheet Pierce, which is a two-check in our hand and not in the deck, but also a great attack for Edgeshot. We would love to keep this for turn two.

In terms of the build, there are two schools of thought. Some people will want to pretend that the two checks don’t exist and lead with the ultra-regeneration build first, or others will want to hold on to it. I would build, due to the fact that even if we check one of the three two’s (Fourth is in hand) then we can just commit our character as he doesn’t do anything on their turn.

Your Turn

Would you keep this and build? Would you build ultra-regeneration, or mulligan it and look for a better line?

Drop your thoughts in the comments. Let’s talk about it and enjoy me dying on the inside.
