June 2025 Ban and Errata Update – Coping with Cardboard Breakdown

The latest ban and errata update from UVS Games is here, and there are a few key changes to cover. The regional meta is showing some diversity, but one character has been pushing a little too hard (and should have probably gotten wrangled in a month ago), so it’s time to rein him in..

Nick Ragan Errata’d

Demonstrating the card of Nick Ragan

Nick Ragan has been showing up in force thanks to his ability to copy attack enhances straight off the top of the deck. He’s fast, hard to predict (on both ends), and ends games incredibly quickly when he pops off. This change slows him down without completely neutering the character.

Old Ability

Enhance: Remove the top 8 cards of your deck. Your attack gets plus 2 speed and plus 2 damage. If it’s your rival’s turn, ready 1 foundation with the same name as a card removed this way. If it’s your turn, you may play 1 enhance ability on an attack card removed this way as your next enhance.

New Ability

Enhance [Twice per turn]: Remove the top 8 cards of your deck. Your attack gets plus 2 speed and plus 2 damage. If it’s your rival’s turn, ready 1 foundation with the same name as a card removed this way. If it’s your turn, you may play 1 enhance ability on an attack card removed this way as your next enhance.

Our Review

Still powerful. Now just less oppressive. I truthfully think this hinders the air symbol for him the most, but I don’t see Nick Ragan on All slowing up with two enhances per turn. It’s very likely we’ll still see him top, but maybe not as frequently now. I essentially feel that this errata is going to resolve similarly to Devil Jin in terms of results. If so, then it looks like UVS Games is finally working out how to better errata characters for overperforming, but also simultaneously not obliterating the character into pieces.

Our resident Nick Ragan player Richard “Six-Eyes” Bernard, also wanted to express his thoughts on this errata.

Hi guys, Richard here.

There's no doubt that the recent B&E will provide some interesting changes to how Nick Ragan is played. The Air build we saw take the recent ABQ regional by storm was definitely hindered by having to selectively choose when to “crack a pack”. However, don’t be too quick to abandon the character altogether! I believe Nick Ragan is still entirely viable on my personal favorite symbol, All. Considering his ability is now twice per turn, I'm most excited about being able to run the deck at a sub-100 card size. This will allow us to hit key pieces more consistently, rather than just hoping that we hit a True 100% Unleashed or Death From Above. It will certainly be a deck I have my eyes on again as we move on through the 2025 competitive season.

Clarifying Errata

A few cards got wording cleanups. These aren't functional changes for most players, but they matter for clarity and rules interactions.

Sword Advantage

Old: Blitz. After you play this card, reveal the top card of your deck. You may discard it.
New: Blitz. Reveal the top card of your deck. You may discard it.

Titanic Capture

Old: Blitz. After you play this card, your rival reveals their hand. Choose 1 card revealed this way and remove it.
New: Blitz. Your rival reveals their hand. Choose 1 card revealed this way and remove it.

Deep Sword Thrust

Old: Response. At the start of the End Phase, add this card to your momentum.
New: Response [Card pool]. At the start of the End Phase, add this card to your momentum.

The Deep Sword Thrust change ensures the effect is tagged properly, allowing it to function as intended.

Final Notes

No bans this time. Just a much needed update that tones down a non-titan titan and fixes language issues. The new Attack on Titan set is legal for regional play now, so expect the field to shift again as we just saw Pieck dominate the OCE.

If you want the full list of errata and legality, the official update is posted here.

As always, keep coping friends.
